Born and raised in Southern California, Solei began to practice the Catholic faith during her junior year at UC Berkeley, from which she graduated in 2018. Inspired by the university’s motto, Fiat Lux, “Let there be light”, she came to see that Jesus Christ is Lux Mundi, the Light of the World, and the fullness of Truth. As St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross wrote, “All those who seek truth seek God, whether this is clear to them or not.” At Berkeley, she met the Dominicans and was drawn deeper into this Truth by the beauty and reverence of the Mass and the rhythm of prayer presented in the Liturgy of the Hours.
Solei’s desire to grow in faith led her to explore many places and serve in a variety of roles. While studying abroad in Italy and Spain, she spent time visiting churches and befriending religious brothers and sisters. She completed a three-month immersion in Lebanon with the Community of the Beatitudes, assisted with event planning for the Order of Malta, and worked with both the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology and the Capuchin Franciscans of the Western Province. She also worked with youth for several years as a sports coach and lead instructor, operations coordinator, and assistant director for an innovation and arts summer camp. Most recently, she spent three years at JSerra Catholic High School, contributing to admissions, marketing, event coordination, and ministry. There, she was privileged to walk alongside students as they encountered the love of God through prayer and the Sacraments.
She is excited to serve the Our Lady of Guadalupe community as the Coordinator of Youth Ministry and Confirmation and looks forward to walking with young people as they discover Christ in the Sacraments and grow in their love for Him and His Church.
