Confirmation is the sacrament that completes Baptism; in it the gift of the Holy Spirit is bestowed upon us. Anyone who freely decides to live a life as God’s child and asks for God’s Spirit under the signs of the imposition of hands and anointing with chrism receives the strength to witness to God’s love and might in word and deed. He is now a full-fledged, responsible member of the Catholic Church.

Dear Young People embarking on their Confirmation Journey
Life is great! - at least that is how God wants it to be for each one of us. Jesus came so that we “might have life and have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). That is what the Sacrament of Confirmation is about. In Confirmation, we receive a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit (like Mary and the apostles experienced at Pentecost). This strengthens the grace that we already received in Baptism and reinvigorates the gifts of the Holy Spirit that have already been given to us, which helps us to live life more abundantly in Jesus Christ.
In our parish high school Confirmation program, young people like you are helped both by adults and other young people to prepare to receive the gift of Confirmation in the best way possible - meeting regularly over a two-year period, praying together, sharing the teaching of Jesus Christ about how to live life more abundantly, supporting one another as fellow members of our community of faith. If you have not yet been confirmed, Jesus Christ wants you to have this gift, and your OLG parish community wants to help you to receive this gift! If you have not yet been baptized or received First Communion, we will also help you prepare to receive those sacraments as well.
A new group of high school-age young people begins preparation for Confirmation in August of each year. If you have not yet been confirmed, I invite and encourage you to be in the next group! Ask your Mom or Dad to register you for our high school Confirmation program during the next registration period.
I look forward to spending time with you and helping you to prepare for this rich and wonderful Sacrament of Confirmation! May God bless you on this journey of faith!
