The Music Ministry at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church seeks to serve God, the Catholic Church and our parish community through the gift of prayerful song. With the discipline of those who know the joys of making music for the glory of God, we strive to foster full, conscious and active participation by the entire assembly through song, and to help provide an atmosphere through which the congregation achieves a deeper connection with God. |

Several music groups comprise the Music Ministry at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and provide music and song at weekend Masses as well as our many liturgical celebrations, including weddings, funerals, holy day celebrations and prayer services. Vicente Chavarria Director of Music Ministry at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. All that is required to join is the ability to "carry a tune" and a willingness to commit.
Adult English Choir: Under the current direction of Vicente Chavarria, the adult English Choir - the Gloria Dei Choir, has provided music at the 9:30 a.m. Sunday Mass and other liturgical events throughout the year for over fifty years. There is always need for additional members. Musical or vocal experience is valuable but not required. Regular attendance at both rehearsal and the 9:30 a.m. Mass is expected.
The Spanish Choir: The Spanish Choir, under the direction of Gerardo Guzman, rehearses every Tuesday evening and sings at each 7:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Sunday Mass and at other liturgical events throughout the year. They also participate in other parish events, such as weddings and funerals, and are an integral part of the celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, each December 12th.
The Contemporary Choir: The Contemporary Choir, under the direction of Rich and Karen Weidenhoefer, has provided contemporary Catholic/Christian music at the 5:30 p.m. Mass each Sunday for many years. In addition to utilizing music from Catholic publishers, many of the pieces used throughout the liturgical year have been written by Coordinator Rich Weidenhoefer. The Contemporary Choir has great appeal to the youth of our Parish and our Life Teen program. |
A Present to You from the Gloria Dei Choir
Hold the date, June 10th, for a special treat from the Gloria Dei Choir to our parishioners at OLG. At 3 PM, we will present a summer songfest for your enjoyment and spiritual uplift.
We'll be performing selections of our "brightest and best"; hymns and songs drawn from our repertoire of liturgy and concert music. We are planning this first program to last for under an hour so take a pleasant break in your Sunday afternoon. Regular 9:30 Mass goers will recognize many selections, and all will enjoy the sounds of our beautiful sacred music. There are no tickets. A free will offering will be the extent of it. It is our chance to give something back to the entire parish.
Please plan on joining us. |
